Alfred A. Fluor, 95, of Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade, IA, and formerly of Chicago, IL, died Wednesday, February 27, 2002, at 8:15 a.m. Alfred was born June 22, 1906 in Farley, IA, son of Jacob and Anna Fluor, nee Guentley. He received his education in the former St. Joseph’s School in Farley, IA. On January 14, 1939 he was united in marriage to Helen “Nelle” O’Malley in Chicago, IL. Alfred was employed as a Inspector at the Continental Can Company in Chicago until his retirement in 1972. Alfred was a member of St. Symphorsa Parish in Chicago. Alfred enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by one daughter, Monica (Arthur) Lynch of Farley, IA; five grandchilren, Colleen (Dave) Zapf, Kathleen (Brett) Naber, Christine (Rich) Shaben, Kelli (Steven) Loes and Daniel Lynch; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Fluor of Dubuque, IA, and Irwin Fluor of Walla Walla, WA; one sister, Marie (Marvin) Stokes of Farley, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen “Nelle” Fluor on July 2, 2000; two great-grandchildren, Curtis and Brian Naber; one sister, Louise Waechter. Friends and relatives of Alfred may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2002 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, IA, where a Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Services for Alfred will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2002 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Farley, IA, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Evergreen Park, IL, on Saturday, March 2, 2002, 11:30 a.m. A Alfred A. Fluor memorial fund has been established.
