Janet Meiley, 91, of San Jose, Calif., formerly of Naperville, died of heart failure Tuesday, Feb. 19, in San Jose. Born in Millington, Ill., Mrs. Meiley grew up in Aurora. She graduated from East Aurora High School and attended two years of business school. She was a Naperville resident from 1940 to 1975 before moving to San Jose. Mrs. Meiley was an employee of Naperville National Bank from 1954 to 1975 and retired as the executive secretary for the president of the bank. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Naperville and San Jose for more than 50 years. She also was a member of White Shrine of Jerusalem, Order of the Amaranth, the AARP and Los Gatos Senior Citizens. Mrs. Meiley was a member of First Evangelical United Brethren Church in Naperville and a member of Grace Methodist Church in San Jose, where she was a volunteer and part-time secretary. Survivors include two sons, Emery Gene “Duke” and Charles; two daughters, Judy Meiley Stevenson and Claudia Jean Meiley Patterson; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Rd., Naperville.
