The Village Board approved a senior assisted-living facility and annexed the land on which it is to be built.
Alexian Brothers Medical Center, in partnership with Pathway Senior Living of Des Plaines, plans to construct a three-story, 104-unit building with parking at Martha and Lincoln Streets. The residential structure would take up about 3 acres of the site, and an office building would be constructed on the rest of the land.
On Tuesday trustees approved the project after hearing complaints from residents of the neighboring Itasca Meadows subdivision in unincorporated Elk Grove Township. The residents said the development would worsen traffic and increase flooding problems.
Construction is expected to begin late this year and be completed in a year, said Robert Helle of Pathway.
