Sarah Hughes’ resplendent performance to win figure skating’s gold medal for the United States was indeed a sight to behold.

This young lady’s dedication, diligence, discipline and athletic ability won her the gold.

By no means am I an expert in Olympic-style figure skating, but even I could see her program and presentation were flawless.

She was robust and fluid in her approach to dealing with this intense pressure of skating before millions.

Her routine was complex.

Her maneuvers incorporated moves that involved an extremely high level of difficulty. Her achievement was not an upset. Indeed her performance was the best of the evening.

She rose to the challenge. And all at the young age of 16.

Truly Hughes’ demeanor, poise and graciousness exemplify all those things that still remain right with today’s American youth. A great job well done!
