Ellen M. Levine, at peace Feb. 23, 2002, after another struggle with cancer. Born Nov. 1, 1943 the youngest daughter of Ralph and Delores Brunner. She is survived by her mother, Delores; loving companion of 23 years, Roy Speck; Roy’s sisters, Ruthann (Bob), Stacey, and Roberta Speck; brother Clayton (Ann) Brunner; sister, Rena Brunner; nieces, Lynette (Greg) Denzer and Kindra Brunner; her longtime friends Ann Foldenauer and Chuck Matthies; and her dogs, Buddy and Winnie. She was preceded in death by her father. In 1973 she married Earl Levine, they were divorced. Ellen was a longtime typesetter for the Bridgeport News in Chicago. She was an insatiable reader, master gardener, volunteer at Lincoln Park Zoo, and enjoyed the humanities. A memorial has been established in Ellen’s name at the Stockton Public Library, 140 W. Benton, Stockton, IL 61085. There was a cremation and interment at Chapel Hill in Freeport, IL. A memorial service will be held Saturday March 2 at Piazza M, 825 W. Erie., Chicago, 1 to 4 p.m. A second service will be held Saturday March 9, at 2 p.m. at Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton, IL.
