Peter Massa, 89, of 6701 N. Plank Road, Peoria, formerly of 520 E. Jefferson St., Morton, died at 9:25 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at Bel-Wood Nursing Home in Peoria. He was born Dec. 31, 1912 in Mulberry, KS, to Peter and Leona Godina Massa. He married Nancy Serefini on Jan. 6, 1946 in Chicago. She died May 13, 1983. Also surviving are one son, Robert Massa of Morton; one brother, Adolph (Angeline) Massa of Redding, CA; one grandchild; two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He served in the Army during WW II. He was a machinist for International Harvestor for 30 years before retiring as a tool and die maker in 1965. He was a member if Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge. Services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton, with Rev. Brian Pape officiating. Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Zefran Funeral Home, 1941 W. Cermak Rd., CHicago. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Hillside, IL. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton is in charge of local arrangements. Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran School Scholarship Fund, 425 N.
