After following the tragic events that led to the barbaric execution of Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal reporter (Page 1, Feb. 22), I wonder how many American activists out there still believe that our military’s treatment of Taliban and Al Qaeda prisoners in Cuba is inhumane. I wonder how many of them would be willing to tell Daniel Pearl’s pregnant widow that receiving three square meals a day and a personal rug to pray on just isn’t good enough. After the calculated massacre of Sept. 11 and the documented account of the Daniel Pearl atrocity, I am disgusted to see any American with the audacity to protest our military’s handling of these sadistic savages. So if their soup happens to be served at room temperature and the crusts aren’t cut off of their sandwiches, you’ll pardon this American if he doesn’t care.
