Mrs. Ann J. Thompson, 87, of Portage, MI, died Wednesday, February 27, 2002. Ann was born August 16, 1914 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of John and Jane, nee Noonan Prendergast. Early in her life she worked as a Librarian for the Chicago Public Library. She was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Portage; did volunteer work with the Chicago Poor Clares Nuns and enjoyed her family. On April 24, 1937 she was united in marriage to James Thompson who preceded her in death on October 22, 1970. Surviving are two children, Jane Wendling, James (Karen) Thompson all of Portage; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, at the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre, Portage, MI. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN, at 2 p.m. (1 p.m. Indiana time). Friends may meet the family Friday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre, Portage, MI. Memorials may be directed to the Fr.
