The caption under the photo in the article “A blessed pain; An implantable defibrillator may be a hassle–until it saves your life” (Health & Family, Feb. 10) is not only insulting but suggests that this is my opinion of my implantable cardiac defibrillator.

This technology is a lifesaver. I am truly grateful for such a device and have never considered it to be a curse.

Without the advances in medicine today, I may not have been alive to still be a mother to my young children.
