Jon K. Lawrence , 65, a retired real estate agent from Winfield and formerly of Lombard, died of pneumonia after battling Alzheimer’s disease Sunday, March 3, in the DuPage Convalescent Center in Wheaton. Born and raised on Chicago’s Southwest Side, Mr. Lawrence graduated from Chicago Vocational High School. Later, he served with the Army Signal Corps and was based in Japan for several years. After the service he joined his father’s real estate firm, J.K. Lawrence Realtors, on the Southwest Side and sold commercial and residential real estate. He was also a former president of the Chicago Southwest Real Estate Board. “He really enjoyed working with people and was a very good salesman,” said his daughter Debbie Nelson. A former avid golfer, Mr. Lawrence moved to the DuPage Convalescent Center after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s several years ago. Other survivors include another daughter, Laurie Partain; five grandsons; and a former wife, Marilyn LaPorte. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. Services will be private.
