Don Wycliff’s Feb. 28 column, “Perception gap in Mideast coverage,” was most interesting, yet distressing. Contrary to the Chicago-area Zionists who are raising protests, I have found that the Tribune’s coverage generally favors the pro-Israeli point of view. I say this because of the large number of anti-Palestinian cartoons it runs on its Editorial page, the preponderance of letters it publishes that reflect a pro-Israeli standpoint and the vociferous anti-Arab columns it publishes.
At the same time, I have greatly appreciated several of the articles that the Tribune publishes on the Middle East on the Commentary page, particularly those of Wycliff and Salim Muwakkil.
I encourage the Tribune to do more in presenting both sides of one of the most serious conflicts in the world.
