Stephan Eberharter collected his third overall title of the year and fellow Austrian Michaela Dorfmeister won her second race in 24 hours Thursday as the world’s best alpine skiers wrapped up the super-G World Cup season at Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, Austria.
Battling tricky weather conditions and a softening course, the 32-year-old Eberharter, who had clinched the overall and downhill titles Wednesday, took the easy way down the hill, knowing he only had to finish in the points to win the title.
Switzerland’s Didier Cuche dominated the race in 1 minute 25.53 seconds for his first super-G victory, with Eberharter crossing a comfortable fourth, a second behind.
Among the women, Hilde Gerg won the overall title in super-G, a discipline that had already been decided before Thursday’s race. Dorfmeister’s win lifted her from eighth to third in the standings.
