Irene Dempsey. Feb. 18, 2002, this past President’s Day, marked the passing of Irene Dempsey, age 73. Irene had been a resident of the Glencoe and Lake Forest communities since 1974. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Dempsey, former Governor of the Chicago Stock Exchange; her daughter, Cindy Irwin; three stepchildren, Jay, Jack and Daryl Dempsey; and five grandchildren, Brooke, Joe, Jack, Emily and Sabrina. Irene lived a full, adventurous life. She was the lead singer for the Charlie Barnett Orchestra from the late 1950’s through the early 1960’s, a professional photographer, a Las Vegas show girl, an actress, a New York model appearing in Vogue and other international publications, and then a devoted wife and mother. She graced out world with originality and humor, evoking tremendous feelings in all who knew her. Friends of Irene and her family are invited to attend a reception on Saturday, March 16 at 50 Beach Rd., Glencoe, IL, from 12 noon to 6 p.m.
