William L. Marhoefer, age 80, longtime resident of Palos Park, died suddenly from a “broken heart” (attack) due to the recent loss of his beloved wife of 53 years Pearl, nee Knudsen; loving father of William K. (Michelle) Marhoefer and Lynne (Gregg) Vavra; devoted PaPa of Sonia and Chloe Vavra; dear brother of Fred (Jeanne) Marhoefer and the late Eric (Maynette) Marhoefer; fond brother-in-law of the late Edward (Thora) Gutmann, Kenneth (LaVern) Khuans and Kenneth Knudsen; proud uncle of many nieces and nephews; dear friend and neighbor to many. All around nice guy. WWII Army Veteran, former Owner and President of the Marhoefer Meat Company, member and Past President of the Palos Lions Club, Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Church and longtime member of the Holy Name Society, member of the Palos Park Historical Society and member of the D.A.N.K. Chapel prayer 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2002 from the Schmaedeke Funeral Home, 10701 S. Harlem Ave., Worth, to Sacred Heart Church, 8243 W. 111th St., Palos Hills.
