– Because of a typographical error, the Web address for the Guinness Group of Companies in the At Random column on Page 2 of Friday’s preprinted Tempo section is incorrect. The correct URL is http://usa.guinness.com/index1.asp.
– A story in Thursday’s editions incorrectly characterized the vote of U.S. Rep. Rod Blagojevich (D-Chicago) on an airport security bill. The story should have said that Blagojevich, a candidate for governor, was one of the few Democrats in Congress to vote against federalizing airport security workers, a bill opposed by the union that represents many current airport screeners and which has contributed heavily to Blagojevich’s campaign.
– A story in Tuesday’s Metro section said that Illinois Supreme Court Justice Charles Freeman had received a letter from Cook County assistant public defenders criticizing some death penalty reforms. Other justices on the court also received the letter.
– A story Saturday about school referendums incorrectly stated that Carpentersville-based School District 300 paid a consulting firm for services in a 2000 referendum campaign. While the district paid $82,373 to UNICOM/ARC for services including a survey and public meetings prior to the referendum campaign, it did not pay for services directly in support of the campaign. An independent political committee, Schools Now for District 300, has also paid UNICOM/ARC more than $60,000 so far, for services in support of the 2000 referendum and in support of a ballot measure this spring.
The Tribune regrets the errors.
