Rev. Patrick A. Moran, 86, of Naperville, an Irish immigrant who, after entering the priesthood, spent much of his life in rural Montana, died Wednesday, March 13, at St. Patrick’s Residence in Naperville. Father Moran came to Chicago in 1927 and attended Holy Cross and St. Sabina grade schools. He also attended St. Ignatius College Preparatory School, Loyola University in Chicago and St. Thomas Seminary in Denver. He was ordained April 10, 1943, in the diocese of Great Falls-Billings, Mont. Soon after, he became an associate pastor at St. Leo Catholic Church in Lewistown, Mont., then served at the cathedral in Great Falls, where he also was the principal of Catholic High School for eight years. Father Moran served several other parishes in Montana before moving to Wisconsin, where he was a member of the faculty at Sacred Heart School of Theology in Hales Corners for seven years. He then was in residence at St. Philip the Apostle in Addison from 1982 to 1985 and at St. John Vianney Villa in Naperville from 1985 until his death. As a retired priest, Father Moran helped at many parishes throughout the diocese of Joliet and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Marion. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1450 Green Trails Drive, Naperville. Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Margaret Mary Church.
