Orioles: Scott Erickson scattered eight hits over six innings and Baltimore beat Texas 8-1 in Ft. Lauderdale, its ninth win in 10 games.

Indians: Travis Fryman broke out of a 2-for-38 slump with a home run and John McDonald returned to the field 18 days after emergency surgery as the Indians defeated the Pirates 5-1 in Winter Haven, Fla. McDonald drove in two runs.
Twins: David Lamb’s two-run double broke an eighth-inning tie in a 7-4 victory over Tampa Bay in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Rangers: Hideki Irabu (3-1) lost for the first time in four starts, allowing three hits and two runs, walking two and striking out one in five innings of an 8-1 loss to Baltimore in Ft. Lauderdale.
Athletics: Scott Hatteberg’s third home run in two days lifted the Athletics to a 3-1 victory over a Mariners split squad in Phoenix. Hatteberg leads the team with a .467 average.
Mariners: Edgar Martinez hit his first homer of the spring in a 22-5 split-squad loss to the Brewers in Peoria, Ariz. Nineteen earned runs boosted the club’s ERA to 6.18.
