Dr. Merton Bernfield, M.D., of Boston, formerly of Palo Alto, CA entered into Rest, March 18. Beloved husband of Audrey Bernfield, nee Rivkin; dear son of Adeline Bernfield; devoted father of Susan and Claude Millman of New York, James Bernfield of New York, and Mark Bernfield of California; loving brother of Glen Bernfield of Illinois; cherished grandfather of Milo and Beattie-Millman. He is also survived by his caregiver, Edith Nantumbwe. He was the Clement A. Smith Professor of Pediatrics and Professor of Cell Biology at Harvard Medical School.
