Jeams and JoAnn Potts of Chicago have announced the engagement of their daughter Melda Felice Potts to Peter Thien Beaty, son of Rev. James and Raye Beaty of Overland Park, Kan.
The future bride received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and her master’s degree from Illinois State University. She is an administrator in the office of undergraduate admission at Northwestern University in Evanston.
The future groom received a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University. He is a computer engineer for Sunguard in Woodale.
The couple has planned an Aug. 9 wedding at the Rock of Ages Baptist Church in Maywood. They will reside in Chicago.
