PORTER, Ind. — Congratulations on a terrific piece on Mike Davis (“Mike Davis tries to shake Bobby Knight,” March 14). We are staunch IU fans and we were Bobby Knight fans during his time there.
Unfortunately Bobby Knight always seemed to generate negative press while the positive things he did for IU and for Bloomington went unnoticed.
Davis is doing a fantastic job and as parents of four IU grads we will always be Indiana basketball fans. The most important thing in [Julia Keller’s] article was the fact that you did not follow the usual Chicago tradition of trashing Indiana.
It was refreshing to see someone from the Chicago media have a few kind words about our state. I’m a born and bred Hoosier and I still live there, even though I work in Chicago, and contrary to popular belief, we Hoosiers don’t all wear bib overalls, wear John Deere caps and speak a foreign language.
Again — congrats on the piece. We appreciate the good work.
