Isn’t anyone capable of murdering another human being mentally ill to a certain extent? These murderers shouldn’t go to jail; they just need the proper treatment, correct?
I’d ask these questions to anyone defending Andrea Yates. Would any amount of treatment really help a woman capable of murdering her own children?
No amount of hospitalization, therapy or medication would make me feel safe for myself or my children around such a person.
Though doctors might eventually deem her mentally sound, who is to say she might not lapse back into the state of mind that overtook her when she committed her horrible crime?
The Yates verdict was just.
