I was angered and sickened by the recent thoughtless articles regarding the Andersen indictment. What many columnists neglect to realize is that by shutting down Andersen, you are shutting down, in Chicago, a U.S. and global headquarters. (Remember all the excitement over Boeing?)
With our Global Training Center located in St. Charles, we are one of the largest users of O’Hare–with tens of thousands of employees and customers coming to Chicago and St. Charles.
There are thousands of employees in the Chicago area who are administrative personnel, including HR managers, mailroom personnel and executive assistants who will not be “picked up by the other big four.”
Some columnists say the effects on Chicago will be short-lived. What about our employees who are single parents or have medical conditions and now may not have insurance to cover those costs because Andersen is self-insured and we may not be in business to pay their medical bills?
