Walter G. Andersen, whose career in architecture spanned over 60 years, passed away on March 21, 2002. Born in Chicago on March 19, 1912, he was 90 years old. Walter Andersen was the son of Paul Walter Andersen and Rebecca Petersen. He married Agnes Ingrid Andersen in 1940, and the couple designed and built a home and raised a family of three children in suburban Glenview. He joined Holabird & Root, a Chicago architectural firm, in the early 1940’s, where he worked for over 40 years. He was a past president of the Chicago Danish Club and a member of the Danish Old Settlers Society. Walter Andersen’s wife, Agnes Ingrid Andersen, preceded him in passing in 1988. He is survived by three children Jean Harmon of Danbury, CT, Paul Andersen of Basalt, CO and Norman Andersen of Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren Laurel Harmon, Evan Harmon,, Joyce Harmon Sayegh and Tait Andersen. A memorial service is planned for Monday, April 1, 4 p.m. at the Glenview United Methodist Church, 727 Harlem Ave., Glenview. Interment private.
