Being a committed and always hopeful voter, I was very dismayed at the results of the Democratic primary. I have three children in the Chicago Public Schools system and am the direct beneficiary of Paul Vallas’ tenure with the board. Although I have not always agreed with Vallas’ choices, I think that his ability to effect positive change in an entrenched bureaucracy more than qualifies him for governor.

His actions as head of the public schools and his conduct through the primary confirmed my opinion of him as a decent and capable candidate focused on issues.

Rod Blagojevich’s campaign, on the other hand, was a shameful embarrassment to all voters in this state. In the barrage of campaign literature that flowed from his office, not one contained any information about what he believes or intends to do as governor. This signals an unimaginative candidate, bereft of ideas, who is fundamentally untrustworthy.
