Patrick T. Gebhardt, 55, of Elk Grove Village, a warehouse distribution manager, died of colon cancer Saturday, March 23, in Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. Born in St. Paul, he graduated from Rich East High School in Park Forest and received a bachelor’s of science degree in food marketing from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. He married in 1971 and the couple lived in Oak Forest and Crestwood before settling in Elk Grove Village. Mr. Gebhardt served in the Army in 1971 and 1972 and was based in Ft. Bragg, N.C. In the 1970s he worked as a buyer for Jewel Food Stores in Melrose Park. For the last 16 years he was a regional distribution center manager for Proficient Food Co./MBM Corp. in Des Plaines. “He enjoyed being with young people and was always at his daughter’s activities,” his wife, Janet, said. From the late 1980s through the ’90s, Mr. Gebhardt volunteered as a coach for Elk Grove Village’s girls softball league. Other survivors include a daughter, Jennifer; mother Mary Jane; a brother, John; and a sister, Janet. Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Heights Rd., Elk Grove Village. Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Grove Memorial Chapel, followed by a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Julian Eymard Catholic Church, 601 Biesterfield Rd., Elk Grove Village.
