“Whom can I run to? What have you done to my heart?” So go the last lines of “April in Paris.”
Regarding April and Paris, we have no answers for your heart, but we think your stomach may want to run to Marshall Field’s Marketplace departments, where a slew of French-themed culinary events will be offered in its monthlong fair, “Experience the French Countryside.”
The lineup includes cooking demonstrations by chef Dominique Tougne of Bistro 110 (noon April 6 at Oakbrook Center) and chef Jean-Andre Charial from Provence (11:30 a.m. April 10 and April 11 at Water Tower and State Street stores, respectively). “Taste of Provence” cooking classes are slated at several stores.
Patricia Wells, author of “The Paris Cookbook,” will speak at a book signing and cooking demonstration (11:30 a.m. April 17 at State Street). And master sommelier Andrea Immer will present a seminar and cooking demonstration on what to drink with all that French food at 1 p.m. April 20 at Oakbrook Center. (Reservations are required for Immer’s event; call 312-781-5454.)
There’s much more. For a full lineup, pick up a brochure at Field’s Marketplace departments.
