I am writing to express my utter shock and outrage at the indictment of Andersen for obstruction of justice. This is a politically motivated action, and is a disgrace to our justice system. I am an employee of Andersen in the Chicago office, and I have been working here for almost four years. In my experience at Andersen, I have been continually impressed by how Andersen gives back to the community.
As Chicago is Andersen’s headquarters, it is unimaginable the impact that Andersen’s demise could have on the local economy.
While we, too, believe the responsible parties should be punished for any wrongdoing related to the Enron collapse, we strongly believe that guilt can be assumed only after it is proven. We do not believe that trying our firm in the press, or forcing our loyal clients to depart us based on the damage that has already been done to our reputation, without a fair hearing, is in any way true American justice.
Ruining Andersen and causing thousands more innocent people to suffer, as well as limiting the potential recovery of those already hurt by the collapse of Enron, is not the answer.
