Mayor Kevin Burns has given a group of developers, real estate agents and builders until July 1 to file its recommendations to the Geneva Plan Commission on a proposed ordinance regulating teardowns and infill development in the city.
The group had complained that it had not had an opportunity to comment on the deliberations of a city subcommittee on teardowns and in-fill development. Some builders said that restricting building height, setback and other elements would limit their business and prevent them from providing the homes sought by their customers.
But some aldermen asked whether the group was going to give recommendations in the form of a report to the Plan Commission or try to delay adoption of the ordinance. The commission was scheduled to consider the issue in May but now is not expected to address it until after the July 1 deadline for the group’s report.
The mayor said he would follow up to find out whether the group will provide a report.
