Child abuse is a terrible thing, but just as terrible is elder abuse. The excellent article by Patrick Kampert (Health and Family, March 24) should be an eye-opener for anyone who has a loved one in a nursing home. Just as priests are in positions of trust, so are nursing home caregivers. Abuse is a slap in the face to each of us who trusts them without question, and worse for many of the elderly they abuse. Thanks to nursing home video monitors for trying to make a horrendous situation better.
