Gus Artemakis, U.S. Air Force Veteran Korean Conflict, 68, of Little Rock, AR, died Saturday, March 23, beloved husband of Helen, nee Tzortzakis; loving father of Angelo (Nicole Cantello), Maria Artemakis and son-in-law, Robert B. Schneider; devoted grandfather of Lukia Artemakis; dear brother of Rev. John Artemas, Nick Artemakis, Mary Hronas, Stella Artemas and Tula Tzakis; dear uncle and cousin of many. He is also survived by his faithful friend, Azore. He was a devoted family man. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church and the Cretan Fraternity of Chicago. Gus loved gardening, the outdoors, chess, ping pong and bowling. He was also a chef and the owner of D&D Cafe, thru which he made many close friendships within the Little Rock community. For many years, he managed supermarkets in the Chicago area. He was born April 16, 1933 in Strovles, Island of Crete, to Helen, nee Koukouvatakis, and Angelo Artemakis. Visitation Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home, 8025 W. Golf Rd., Niles. Funeral Tuesday 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to SS. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 1401 Wagner Rd., Glenview, for Services at 10 a.m. Interment Elmwood.
