Ford Motor Co. says that beginning in early ’04, it will move current output of the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable to its plant in Atlanta, which also produces those midsize sedans, when it begins building the CrossTrainer and Five Hundred in Chicago.

“I don’t see it as a gamble in taking two plants producing Taurus/Sable down to one plant. I’m of the school that believes you do better when demand exceeds supply,” said Chris Theodore, vice president of North American product development for Ford.
