Stephanie Lessner, 90, of Naperville, a retired City of Chicago secretary, died Sunday, March 24, in St. Patrick’s Residence in Naperville. Born in Chicago and raised in Bridgeport, Mrs. Lessner worked on an assembly line at Crane Co., a manufacturer of plumbing fixtures in Chicago, during the 1940s and ’50s. After she married her second husband, George Lessner, in 1958, she stopped working to raise her family. She went back to work for the City of Chicago in the 1960s as a secretary in the Building Department. She retired in the early 1980s. “She was a very determined and strong-willed person,” said her daughter Diane Fitzgerald. Besides her daughter, survivors include another daughter, Corinne; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick’s Residence, 1400 Brookdale Rd., Naperville. A mass will follow at 10 a.m. in the nursing home’s chapel.
