Robert B. Thomas, died peacefully on March 30, at the age of 84. He was born on July 4, 1917 in Detroit, Michigan. Robert served in the U.S. Army during World War II, during that time he was a prisoner of war in Germany. Upon returning to Detroit after the war, he went to work for the American Automobile Insurance Company. He served in many managerial positions in various locations throughout the country before finally retiring as the Vice-president of field operations for the Firemans Fund Insurance Company twenty years ago. During his time in Detroit, he met and married Alma Jean DiLaura who preceded him in death. Robert had three children that survive him, Barbara (Allen) Roy, Karen Noreen and Michael (Larella) Thomas; beloved grandpa of Karen DeGregory, Kristine Brewer and Shaelyn Thomas; and two grandchildren who preceded him in death, Mark Roy and Susan Roy; he will also be missed by his great-grandchildren. Robert will be remembered as a kind and loving man to all who knew him. A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 2, at Keaton Mortuary from 3 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held Wednesday April 3, at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 355 Los Ranchitos Road, San Rafael.
