The Hinsdale High School District 86 board has delayed until next school year a decision about how large an addition to build at Hinsdale South.
“We’ll wait until the fall to check the enrollment and see what’s going on at the feeder schools,” said board president Donald Buell. There will still be enough time to construct the addition for the following school year, Buell said. Predicting the enrollment for Hinsdale South, which is in Darien has been a key issue in deciding space needs because the school has grown faster than anticipated.
At the meeting Monday, Principal Claudia Geocaris said the faculty would use all of the available space, including setting up classes in a conference room, the little theater and the south end of the upper library.
Board members also agreed to create two temporary classrooms in the auto shop since the program will end. The rooms will be ready for use in the fall.
