Forrest S. Paddock, 73, a retired underwriter for Kemper Insurance Co., died Friday, March 15, in his Palatine home. Born in Chicago, Mr. Paddock graduated from Taft High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1951 and was stationed in Germany. After his military service, Mr. Paddock followed in his father’s footsteps and began working at Kemper in Chicago. He specialized in risk assessment for the boiler industry and was assistant manager of the company’s boiler and machinery underwriting department. He retired from the company’s Long Grove office in 1995 after 44 years. A former resident of Rolling Meadows, Mr. Paddock was a world traveler who recently visited Africa. He also enjoyed crafting wooden cradles for his grandchildren’s dolls. “He was so supportive of us all,” said his daughter Marcia Carbery. “He had a good sense of humanity and kindness.” Mr. Paddock is also survived by a son, Larry; two more daughters, Lynn Froehlich and Catherine Canty; a sister, Barbara Beatty; and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday in Kemper Lake Club House, Old McHenry Road, Long Grove.
