Nancy L. Conrad, 68, of Schaumburg, a retired executive secretary, died of lung cancer Wednesday, April 10, in Alden-Poplar Creek Rehab and Health Care Center in Hoffman Estates. Born and raised in Chicago, she received an associate’s degree from Oakton Community College in Des Plaines. She worked for about 20 years as an executive secretary for A.B. Dick Co. in Niles. Mrs. Conrad retired in 1998. She painted landscapes and portraits of family members as well as drew cartoons and did calligraphy. “She was always upbeat and on the go,” said her son, Victor. “She made friends easily.” Mrs. Conrad is also survived by three daughters, Vicki Dlugolecki, Shari Karys and Patti; two brothers, Roy and Gene Holmquist; a sister, Betty Slazes; and eight grandchildren. Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine, followed by mass at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 455 N. Benton St., Palatine.
