A committee studying the future of the public library has recommended that the city lend the library board up to $350,000 to investigate building a new facility.
Tuesday night’s recommendation came five months after a committee of aldermen and library trustees was appointed to revisit the library issue, and nearly a year and a half after the library board released its recommendation for a new, 80,000-square-foot facility.
A new library would ease cramped conditions and allow expansion of holdings, provide accessibility to people with disabilities and add services.
