A pharmacist who drew blood from 16 women for a bogus study has been sentenced to 2 years of probation.

Corey Penner, 29, pleaded guilty last month to 16 counts of misdemeanor battery.

Victims willingly gave blood, and some received up to $20 for it. Penner told the donors that the blood was for research, but authorities say there was no study.

Penner has agreed not to work as a pharmacist while the Kansas State Board of Pharmacy investigates.

The sentence was handed down Friday.
