As I read Irving Harris’ April 16 commentary, I kept hoping it was a Jonathan Swift-like satire. Instead Harris showed how morally bankrupt he is. Have we as a culture sunk so low that abortions are to be seen as a means of preventing crime?

Where are we willing to draw the line? How about elimination of troublemaking students? At least they have proven to be troublemakers, unlike innocents who are aborted.

Since when are violence and death the solution to the crime problem? Shouldn’t we instead seek to strengthen family ties, encouraging fathers to participate in their children’s lives, and ensuring that young people enter school with the social and moral skills necessary to become well educated?
