Salim Muwakkil hit the nail on the head concerning President Bush’s go-it-alone foreign policy (Commentary, April 15), the latest being his refusal to support the new international criminal court.

To the laundry list of Bush’s “non-support” of treaties, I would add walking out on the conference on racism, at a time when our continued presence could have exerted some influence. It’s ironic that when we get in trouble–as on Sept. 11–Bush expects the whole world to support us and cooperate with us. Yet he tells the world, in effect, “We’re the master race; we don’t have to cooperate with anybody!”
