In its April 16 editorial “Hard lessons for Venezuela,” the Tribune criticized the Latin American governments that condemned the coup attempt against Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez by stating his return ” . . . doesn’t mean it’s good news for democracy.”
The Tribune in effect endorsed the overthrow of a democratically elected president, in a troubled region of the world where the U.S. has a dirty history of supporting military coups.
