John Line, 74, a retired sales executive, died of cancer Wednesday, April 24, in his Arlington Heights home. Mr. Line was born and raised in Chicago and graduated from Kelvyn Park High School. He played drums into his 20s and was a member of and instructor for several drum and bugle corps. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers based in Germany. He was an account executive with Moore Business Forms in Chicago and the suburbs from 1954 until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Line was an elder in Faith Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights. “He was very family oriented and down-to-earth,” said his daughter, Gayle Murphy. Other survivors include his wife, Georgia; two sons, Gary and Gregg; a sister, Lila Ostrand; and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Faith Lutheran Church, 431 S. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights.
