There is a stink emanating from the lakefront, and it’s not rotting fish, and it’s not sewage runoff from recent rains.
I’m not sure where it began.
But it seems to have been born of back-room deals in City Hall and Springfield to give the Chicago Bears football organization a stadium worthy of the Roman Coliseum, another publicly funded stadium built without the public’s input.
I thought with the closing of the stockyards in the ’70s that stink in the city would disappear. It seems to have made a resurgence with the Soldier Field deal that stinks of manipulation of the true facts behind the public’s financing of a stadium the public was not allowed its say (referendum) on.
