I read with interest Salim Muwakkil’s “McKinney draws fire with call for probe” (Commentary, April 22). Rep. Cynthia McKinney brings up questions that are indeed unsettling–but must be explored.
I am far more troubled by the anger, even the hatred, of those who are attacking McKinney for expressing her legitimate (and well-documented) concerns.
Considering the intricate web of political and business interests of the Bush administration with key figures and regimes from Sept. 11, many Americans, people who love their country, are asking who knew what and when did they know it? Who benefits?
And why is anything less than total transparency acceptable to the American people, pundits and members of Congress?
