We need a law that all people on bikes must make their presence known when approaching a pedestrian–especially from behind–by using either a verbal warning or a bike bell. I have had several close calls while walking the path in Lincoln Park. If I step right or left not knowing a bike is trying to pass, I step right into its path. The result could be deadly. One inch has saved us on several occasions.
