John “Jack” Cassiday, 80, passed away Monday, May 6, 2002, beloved husband of Paula, nee Stenger; wonderful father of Patricia (John Knoche) of Riverside, Susan Jaskowiak (Joe) of Valparaiso, John of Chicago, Elizabeth (Terry Ridell) of Chicago, and Polly Kain (Dave) of Peru, IL; dear grandfather of Craig, Kevan, and Jane Knoche, Paul and Mark Jaskowiak, and Jaclyn Kain. A lifelong resident of Spring Valley, IL. He served as Navy fighter pilot in WWII and Korea where he reached the rank of Major and squadron leader. He also flew with the famous “Black Sheep Squadron”. In addition to running several successful businesses, he was a devoted athlete excelling in football and basketball in school and tennis and golf in his later years.
