Marion Warner, 74, who lived in Bensenville for 45 years, died of complications from osteoporosis Saturday, May 4, in Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Warner was born in Chicago. She graduated from Notre Dame High School for Girls and went to Mundelein College, where she studied business for two years. She spent the next few years traveling with her friends, her family said. After marrying in 1954, she moved to Bensenville with her husband and became involved in St. Alexis Parish. Mrs. Warner served as president of the church’s Council of Catholic Women. She also became involved in New Beginnings, a support group for divorced Catholics. “She was very active in that group, and people to this day remember her from it,” her daughter Jeanine Van Exan said. In 1974 she began working in the learning center at Tioga Elementary School in Bensenville, a job she held for five years. Her next position was in the corporate offices of Dominick’s Finer Foods in Northlake. She remained there until she suffered a broken wrist as a result of osteoporosis. She endured her ailments without complaint, her daughter said, and never wavered in her faith. “My mother’s devotion to prayer was what she will be most remembered for,” her daughter said. After retiring she spent time with her grandchildren, rarely missing any of their events or activities. Other survivors include two daughters, Carol Diekneit and Elaine Banks; two sons, Gregory and Keith; two sisters, Ruth Schlee and Dorothy Bohdan; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Geils Funeral Home, 180 S. York Rd., Bensenville. Services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. in St. Alexis Church, 400 Wood Ave., Bensenville.
