Several area leaders have been named to an ad-hoc committee formed to fight the conversion of the Woodland landfill into a garbage transfer station.

On Monday Village President Jim Hansen announced the team, which also includes residents and activists. It will evaluate Waste Management’s application before making a recommendation to the Kane County Board. Village Presidents Catherine Melchert of Bartlett and Eileen Phipps of Wayne as well as St. Charles Mayor Susan Klinkhammer will participate.
