Peter B. Slabich, age 86, of Birnamwood, WI, died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at Langlade Memorial Hospital under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. He was born on July 17, 1915 in Chicago, the son of the late John and Eva Slabich. On Aug. 7, 1945, Peter was united in marriage to Martha Vodziak in Chicago. She preceded him in death in 1984. Peter was employed at Wisconsin Steel, Chicago, until his retirement in 1974. Survivors include two sons, Bill (Carol) Slabich of Lockport, IL and Peter (Ann) Slabich Jr. of Downers Grove, IL; eight grandchildren, Bill Slabich Jr., Peter Slabich III, Melissa Slabich, Patricia Slabich, Christine Slabich, Brian Slabich, Cindy Slabich, Trina Slabich and one great-granddaughter, Kailey Marie. In addition to his wife and parents, Peter was preceded in death by two brothers, Willy and John. Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2002 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Chapel, Evergreen Park, IL. Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood, WI is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
