James T. Reeder, 70, a financial trader and farmer, died Saturday, May 4, in his vacation home near Naples, Fla. Mr. Reeder was one of eight children in a farm family in DeWitt in central Illinois. A veteran of the Army, Mr. Reeder attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Through the 1970s and 1980s, he held a seat on the Chicago Board of Trade and helped run farms in DeWitt and Piatt Counties, said his sister, Mary Kate Fraley. He had homes in Monticello, Ill., and Chicago’s North Side. “He had an uncanny sense of investment,” Fraley said. “And he was very active, even until the day he died. He kept abreast of the markets and world events.” Mr. Reeder was a longtime member of DeWitt Masonic Lodge 84 and a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Monticello. He also served on the Clinton school board, Fraley said. Other survivors include his wife, Jackie; three daughters; Leslie Marchiando, Joan Diaz and Lynn Stocki; two brothers, Roger and Lyle; and five grandchildren; . Services have been held.
